A pair of Florida residents face steep fines after the two allegedly failed to quarantine once they entered Canada, OPP say.

OPP say the pair entered Canada at Fort Erie and travelled to East Ferris near North Bay to attend a seasonal property on July 3.

Public health reached out to the OPP for a compliance check, and officers found that the couple did not comply with mandatory 14-day self-isolation requiements.

The two from Florida, 68 and 70 years old, were charged with failure to comply with an order prohibiting or subjecting to any condition the entry into Canada under section 58 of the Quarantine Act.

Both face $1000 fines, and both are currently being monitored during isolation.
