13-year-old faces weapons charges after Halloween incident

A 13-year-old faces several weapons charges after allegedly firing an airsoft gun at other youths while trick or treating on Halloween night.

One of the youths that was struck by these shots was treated at hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Dec. 13, 2021 officers with Investigation Services charged a 13-year-old boy with weapon offences.

On Oct. 31, 2021 the accused was trick or treating with other youth on Plaintree Drive. The accused had an airsoft gun and was shooting at other youth when he struck one of them, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was later transported to hospital for treatment.

As a result of the ensuing investigation, officers located the accused, and he was arrested.

He is charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Assault with a weapon causing bodily harm

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 26, 2022.
