13-year-old threw person's phone, kicked them in the head: Sault Police

Alleged assault occurred Sunday night on Queen Street, between Gore and Tancred streets

A local 13-year-old was arrested over the weekend for allegedly throwing a person’s phone on the ground and kicking them in the head multiple times.

On Sunday night at around 9 p.m., someone phoned 911 to report an altercation on Queen Street East, between Gore and Tancred streets. 

“Upon arrival, officers learned the accused had thrown the victim’s phone on the ground before throwing the victim on the ground and kicking their head multiple times, causing minor physical injuries,” says a news release issued this afternoon by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The accused and the victim are known to one another. The accused was arrested.”

The 13-year-old is charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on March 26, 2024.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the publication of a person’s identity if they are under 18.
