A 23-year-old is facing multiple charges after an incident at a multi-unit residence in the 100 block of Chapple Avenue on Wednesday evening.
Around 9:45 p.m., officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call of an assault in progress.
When officers arrived, they found the victim and the accused in the residence.
Police say that an investigation developed grounds to believe that the "accused touched the victim for a sexual purpose without their consent, choked them and threatened them with a knife."
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

- assault causing bodily harm
- assault
- assault with a weapon
- uttering threats
