Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charged a 25-year-old with impaired following a motor vehicle collision on Lake Street around 7 a.m. on Oct. 9.

When police arrived on the scene, the officers saw a green power box had been struck, while the suspect vehicle was no longer there.

Shortly after that, the vehicle, which showed signs of collision, was found on Village Court parked across traffic lanes, police say.

When officers approached the side door of the vehicle, they found the suspect driver, who was sleeping inside the car.

Police also found drug paraphernalia near the driver.

After speaking with the driver, it was determined that the accused was impaired with drugs.

When police tried to arrest the accused with impaired, they resisted, pulling away from officers.

The driver was subsequently taken under control and arrested.

Upon searching the car, the officers located a quantity of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine.

As a result, Jacob Myers, 25, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and/or drugs
  • Resist peace officer
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Fail to remain under the Highway Traffic Act

Myers was released on an appearance notice and will appear in court on Dec.19, 2022.
