A 26-year-old driver is facing impaired charges after they were found driving erratically.

On Jan. 7, around 3 a.m., officers arrived at the area of Wellington Street East and Bruce Street for a potentially impaired driver. When they arrived, they spotted a vehicle in a snowbank that reversed out of the snow and travelled west on Wellington Street, police say.

The officers saw that the vehicle was driving erratically and conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Wellington Street West.

When speaking to the driver, officers found out they were impaired by alcohol.

The accused was arrested and provided two breath samples, registering two readings over the legal limit.

As a result, 26-year-old Hunter King has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug
• Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

King is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27.
