27-year-old faces weapons, identity fraud charges

Accused found with bear spray after officers responded to a fight on Turner Avenue

Police have charged Kaleb Demour after officers responded to the 200 block of Turner Avenue regarding a fight in the area.

A Sault Ste. Marie Police Service news release states that the 27-year-old stands charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, identity fraud, breach of recognizance and breach of probation.

Full text of the news release follows:

On June 2, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged 27-year-old Kaleb Demour with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Around 10:47 p.m., officers responded to a call of two men fighting in the 200 block of Turner Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located one man in the area who was holding a canister of bear spray. He gave the canister to officers and was treated for minor injuries by EMS.

As officers were investigating the call for service, they determined the man provided a false name as he was later identified as the accused.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, identity fraud with intent to avoid arrest, breach of recognizance and breach of probation.

He was held for bail court.
