On Wednesday, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charged a 29-year-old man with robbery.
At around 6:45 p.m., a 911 caller reported a robbery at a business in the 100 block of Churchill Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers found the accused in the custody of security officers.
An investigation revealed the accused had left the business with several items he had not paid for and, when confronted, punched a security officer in the face, police said in a news release.
Ryan McLeish was arrested and charged with robbery. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 23, 2025.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and McLeish is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
