On Saturday, Sault Ste. Marie Police officers charged a 30-year-old woman with impaired driving at around 8:10 p.m.
A 911 caller reported a person who appeared to be impaired at a business in the 700 block of Pine Street.
“Security officers were concerned this person had driven a motor vehicle to the business,” police said in a news release.
“Upon arrival, officers located the suspect . . . in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle,” police said.
After speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe her ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
Officers say they saw her attempt to move an open container of alcohol out of sight.
Jessica Loucks was arrested. She provided multiple breath samples into an approved screening device, all of which registered above the legal limit.
Loucks is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
She was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 13, 2025.
None of the charges have been proven in court and Loucks is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
