A driver who Sault Ste. Marie Police say was found asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle at a traffic light has been charged with being impaired.
Officers pulled up behind the vehicle at the intersection of Pine Street and McNabb Street at around 2 a.m. Saturday.
“The traffic lights cycled from red to green to yellow twice and the vehicle ahead of the police cruiser did not move,” police said in a news release.
When officers approached the vehicle, they say there were two open cans of alcohol in the centre console.
The officers woke the driver up and say multiple breath samples registered above the legal limit for alcohol.
