44-year-old facing child luring, child pornography charges

A 44-year-old man is facing numerous charges, including child luring and possession of child pornography, after being arrested on Thursday.

In a release, Sault Ste. Marie Police say the accused is alleged to have shared intimate images with two minors.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta began the investigation on May 25 and during the investigation, officers with the Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit discovered the accused resided in Sault Ste. Marie and contacted the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Mark Vanlandeghem is charged with two counts of luring a child, two counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child and possession of child pornography.

On Aug. 20, 2020 officers with the Technological Crime Unit arrested 44-year-old Mark Vanlandeghem for child luring.

It is alleged the accused was sharing intimate images with two minors. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta began an investigation on May 25, 2020. During the investigation officers with the Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit discovered the accused resided in Sault Ste. Marie and contacted the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

On Aug. 20, 2020 at 9:11 a.m. officers executed a search warrant on an address in the 0-100 block of Cambridge Place. The accused was not home at the time, but a number of electronic devices were seized during the search warrant.

The accused was located a short time later and arrested. He is charged with two counts of luring a child, two counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child and possession of child pornography. He was held for bail court.
