One person has been charged after police responded to a report regarding a suspected impaired driver on Northern Avenue on Saturday night.
Responding officers found a vehicle parked at a business in the 100 block of Northern Avenue with the accused, 46-year-old Jean-Paul Theriault, sitting in the driver's seat, says a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
"Upon speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe the accused’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol."
Theriault is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 9 and stands charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug.
