55-year-old driver arrested after speeding, driving over lawns, curbs: police

A 55-year-old is facing multiple charges following an arrest on Wednesday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., 911 communications received a report of a stolen vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner around Lake Street and McNabb Street.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Patrol Services unit were dispatched.

Police say that the vehicle was travelling at excessive speeds and driving over lawns and curbs on residential streets, after which, the driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers located a person matching the description nearby and arrested them.

As a result, Andrew Boyer has been charged with:

  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • dangerous operation
  • driving while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act (x2)
