Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred at the intersection of Gore Street and Bay Street last evening at approximately 5 p.m.
A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that an 82-year-old woman was struck by a blue pickup truck – driven by a 60-year-old man – as she crossed Gore Street at Bay.
The victim was found suffering from life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The incident remains under investigation and police have not indicated if charges are pending.
