Arrest made in Queen Street break and enter investigation

Stolen items were returned to the downtown business, police say

Sault Police have arrested William McDonald after more than $1,000 in merchandise was stolen from a downtown business yesterday evening.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that officers responded to a break and enter in the 600 block of Queen Street East shortly after 11 p.m.

Police allege that the 37-year-old accused took $1,089 worth of items from the business before fleeing the area.

McDonald was located by police a short time later, and the stolen items were returned to the business.

The accused was held for bail court, and stands charged with break and enter and theft under $5,000.
