Arrest made in Trunk Road robbery investigation

Police have arrested Eric Nothing after four purses were reported stolen from a Trunk Road business on Tuesday afternoon, states a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

On March 8, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 47-year-old Eric Nothing of Garden River with robbery.

[It is alleged that] around 4 p.m., the accused and another person attended a business in the 100 block of Trunk Road, selected four purses from the shelf valued at approximately $200, and left without attempting to pay. An employee followed the accused to the parking lot and asked if he had a receipt for the items. At this time, he shoved them and left the area in a vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle and the accused around 7 p.m. and he was arrested. A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of the items reported stolen.

He is charged with:
    •    robbery
    •    possession of property obtained by crime

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The investigation is ongoing.
