Assault with a bat leaves victim with serious injuries: Sault Police

A 35-year-old Sault man has been charged with assault with a weapon following an incident on Douglas Street.

Sault Ste. Marie Police say on Friday around 10:22 a.m., the accused entered the residence of someone they knew and assaulted the victim with a bat before leaving the area.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries, according to a release issued by the Sault Police.

The accused was located at 1:40 p.m. and arrested.

As a result, Derek Myers-Lewis has been charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and break and enter.

He was held for WASH court.
