Backyard bike theft allegation lands suspect in court again

Accused charged with three counts of failure to comply with probation, as well as theft

A 31-year-old has been charged with violating probation orders after also being accused of being in possession of stolen property – a bicycle.

Sault Ste. Marie Police say on Aug. 17 they received a report of a bike being stolen from a backyard on Shannon Road.

"A witness observed the accused with the stolen bicycle and informed the victim," police said in a news release.

Police say on Aug. 25, the suspect was arrested on a warrant in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road.

Brooks Warmington is charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x3

The accused was held in custody pending a Weekend and Statutory Holiday court hearing and they were remanded, police said.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
