Bay Street altercation results in assault, drug charges

Police say the accused was in possession of suspected psilocybin

Sault Police have charged Luckee St. Pierre following an assault incident that took place on Bay Street Saturday morning.

The accused was found to be in possession of 48 grams of suspected psilocybin at the time of his arrest, a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports.

Full text of the release follows:

On Feb. 13, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 26-year-old Luckee St. Pierre with assault causing bodily harm.

It’s alleged around 8 a.m., a staff member of a business in the 300 block of Bay Street went to speak with a client about a noise complaint. At this time it is alleged the accused began assaulting the victim by striking them multiple times. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was later transported to hospital.

Officers responded at 8:12 a.m., located the accused and he was arrested. A subsequent search of the area of arrest found the accused to be in possession of approximately 48 grams of a substance believed to be psilocybin (mushrooms).

He is charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm, mischief under $5,000, and possession of a controlled substance.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 29, 2021.
