Break-and-enter call leads to weapon, mischief charges

Police were called to break and enter in progress at Queen Street East business early Saturday morning

A 27-year-old is facing multiple charges after police responded to a 911 call reporting an early-morning break and enter Saturday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m., officers with the patrol services unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a business in the 300 block of Queen Street East.

Officers found a person matching the description they were given walking at the intersection of Albert Street East and East Street. The accused was found to be in possession of a knife.

As a result, Mary Werth has been charged with:

  • weapons dangerous
  • mischief under $5,000
  • fail to comply with probation - to keep the peace and be of good behaviour
