UPDATE: Police confirm two gun incidents on Douglas Street

Detectives don't believe occurrences were random

Sault Ste. Marie police have confirmed two gun incidents in the 400 block of Douglas Street which led them to respond with the tactical unit and the Ballistic Armoured Tactical Transport (BATT) vehicle, a news release said.

Police today had Douglas Street closed and guns drawn as they were on the scene for a second consecutive day.

An investigation actually began Oct. 6 around 11 p.m. when police were dispatched, determining that a gun had been fired. A second similar incident occurred in the same area around 5 a.m. this morning (Saturday), police said.

No injuries were reported, police added.

Detectives with Investigation Services are looking into the matter. At this time the incident is not believed to be a random attack, police said.

Residents in the neighbourhood told SooToday Saturday afternoon the house involved is commonly referred to as "The Clubhouse" where the bikers are known to gather.
