Bruce Mines man charged with break and enter

Police say accused provided a false name to officers

Daniel Campbell of Bruce Mines has been charged with break and enter after officers responded to an alarm in a building on Second Line East, a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service (SSMPS) stated. A door on the building was damaged and the accused was found to be in possession of a pry bar, tin shears, a wrench and a knife.

On March 12, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 26-year-old Daniel Campbell of Bruce Mines, Ontario with break and enter.

Around 5:00 a.m. officers responded to an alarm call at a building in the 400 block of Second Line East. Upon arrival officers located a man leaving the area on a bicycle. Officers placed him under investigative detention, and he provided, what officers later discovered, to be a false name.

During the investigation officers discovered a door on the building had been damaged as someone had attempted to break in, but failed to gain entry. Officers developed reasonable grounds to believe the accused was responsible, he was arrested, and officers were able to identify him as the accused. A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of a pry bar, tin shears, a wrench, and a knife.

  • Possession of Break-in Tools
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Breach of Recognizance x5

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
