Canine Unit helps apprehend break and enter suspect

Accused was found hiding in a shed, police say

Sault Police have charged Nelson Solomon in relation to vehicle break-ins that occurred Friday evening in the area of McMeeken Street.

In a news release issued today, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that the Canine Unit was called to track the accused after he was observed fleeing the area.

Solomon was arrested after he was found hiding in a nearby shed.

Full text of the Sault Police news release follows:

On Jan. 23, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 27-year-old Nelson Solomon with break and enter.

On Jan. 22, 2021 at 11:54 p.m., officers responded to a call of a man entering vehicles in the 100 block of McMeeken Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a man fleeing the area. The Canine Unit was called in to track the suspect and he was located at 1 a.m. on Jan. 23, 2021 in a shed in the 0-100 block of Retta Street and arrested.

He is charged with break and enter, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and two counts of breach of recognizance.

He was held for WASH court.
