Collision snaps hydro pole on Douglas Street (5 photos, update)

1,459 PUC customers are without power as a result

Power has been restored to all customers.

Original information:
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Fire Services are currently at the scene of a collision that occurred shortly after 2 p.m. today on Douglas Street near Second Avenue.

A hydro pole snapped after it was struck by a pickup truck. It is unknown if anyone was injured as a result.

PUC Services is reporting that 1,459 customers on Goulais Avenue east to Korah Road, Second Line West south to Wallace Terrace, and Bonney Street are currently without power as a result of this incident.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.
