Concerning social media post causes 'hold and secure' at Superior Heights (update: lifted)

Police say there's no threat to public safety at this time

1:19 p.m. update:

ADSB reports that the hold and secure is now lifted as police investigation is now complete and there is no risk to the safety of students and staff. The hold and secure was lifted as of 12:29 p.m.

1:13 p.m. update:

Superior Heights is currently under a 'hold and secure' confirms Algoma District School Board.

The move is a precaution, says an ADSB spokesperson, while police investigate. When the issue is resolved, the board will notify parents and guardians using the school messenger system.

12:54 p.m. original story:

SooToday received reports that Superior Heights Collegiate & Vocational School was under lockdown around noon today.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service spokesperson Lincoln Louttit confirmed that the school was on lockdown, but that there is no threat to public safety at this time. 

He indicated that something was posted by a student on social media that the school was "concerned about." An officer is on scene speaking with those involved.
