On the 17th of November, 2016 at 5 a.m., a construction employee was working inside the closed William Merrifield School on Patrick Street when he noted an unknown male wearing a back pack walking through the school. 

The employee contacted police. As a result 28-year-old David Dowding of Brunswick Avenue has been arrested and charged with break and enter, being in possession of break in tools and breach of undertaking for not notifying police of a change of address. 

He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 13.
