Cops arrest third person linked to summer standoff with Peterborough murder suspect

29-year-old faces multiple weapons charges in connection with August incident in Manitou Park; he is currently in custody pending a bail hearing

A third person has been arrested in connection with a summer standoff with Sault Police that ended with the apprehension of a man wanted for a 2022 homicide in Peterborough.

The accused killer, 34-year-old Eduardo Silva, had barricaded himself inside a Manitou Park home on Aug. 23. He was arrested two hours later “without incident,” police said at the time.

Initially charged with seven offences, including second-degree murder, Silva was later charged with 33 additional weapons-related crimes. Police say they seized three handguns, two high-capacity magazines and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.

On Nov. 2, Sault Police arrested a second person who was inside the home with Silva: 44-year-old Donald Robert. Facing multiple charges, Robert is accused of having “involvement with the firearms seized.”

On Sunday Dec. 3, police made a third arrest in connection with those firearms.
