Sault Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a James Street assault that occurred last month.

The July 28 attack occurred in the 100 block of James Street, sending the victim to hospital with serious injuries.

“An investigation revealed the victim was out for a walk alone when the accused, who is known to them, assaulted them by kicking and punching them,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Two weeks later, on Aug. 15, the suspect was spotted and arrested in the 0-100 block of Adrian Drive.

Johnathon Corbett, 24, is charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Corbett is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
