Crews on scene of Wellington Street fire (5 photos, update: firefighter injured)

3:17 p.m. update:

Fire services reports that one firefighter was injured.

The injuries were not initially considered serious.

The firefighter was taken to hospital by ambulance. 

The fire was declared under control shortly after 3 p.m. 

Canadian Red Cross has been asked to attend the scene for possible housing issues.

Firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire at 344 Wellington Street East.

Initial reports indicate that smoke could be seen coming from a second storey window.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to the call at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Motorist should use caution in the area as crews work to extinguish the fire.
