CRIME OF THE WEEK: Parking meter bandit targets Queen

74 parking meters were smashed downtown causing over $40K in damage

Crime Stoppers and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are looking to identify the thief who smashed 74 downtown parking meters earlier this month.

As SooToday previously reported, the vandalism forced the city to remove a number of parking meters.

Police say in the early morning hours of Aug. 1, an unknown male on Queen Street East caused over $40,000 in damage and took an unknown amount change from the damaged parking meters.

This incident was caught on video surveillance.
