Double shooting leaves 18-year-old with life-threatening injuries

A 54-year-old also sustained serious injuries after shots rang out at a home on Wemyss Street early Saturday morning; anyone with video of the area urged to call police

Sault Police released more details today about a double shooting that sent two people to hospital early Saturday morning.

The gunshots rang out at a house in the 0-100 block of Wemyss Street, near Pim and Wellington streets.

Police say an 18-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries, while a 54-year-old sustained serious injuries.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified.

In a news release this afternoon, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said officers are no longer holding the scene but the investigation continues.

Anyone who may have video of the area at the time of the incident, or may have been in the neighbourhood at the time of the shooting, is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Alison Campbell at 705-949-6300, ext. 288.
