Driver caught doing 106 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Peoples Road

Driver now facing an automatic 30-day licence suspension and vehicle will be impounded for 14 days

Sault Ste. Marie Police stopped a driver after their vehicle was seen travelling southbound on Peoples Road at a high speed rate on Oct. 10 around 4 p.m.

According to police, the vehicle was travelling at 106 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Officers conducted a traffic stop.

The driver is now facing an automatic 30-day licence suspension, and their vehicle will be impounded for 14 days in compliance with stunt driving regulations under the Highway Traffic Act.

The average fee to tow and impound a vehicle for 14 days is approximately $1,400.
