Fake gun leads to weapon charge, stolen vehicle also recovered

The charges come after police responded to a 911 call reporting a person sleeping at the wheel of a vehicle on Canal Drive

Over the weekend, officers with the Patrol Services unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 39-year-old after a 911 call.

Around 9 a.m. on April 8, officers responded to a call reporting a person asleep at the wheel of a vehicle parked on Canal Drive.

Police say that, when officers arrived, they found a person asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle. The accused was arrested after further investigation found a replica handgun.

Around 1 p.m., the vehicle the accused was in was reported stolen from a North Street residence.

Jordan Forbes has been charged with:

  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • breach of probation – not to possess any weapons as defined by Criminal Code and/or keep the peace and be of good behaviour (x5)
