Bear Season Approaching

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Ministry of Natural Resources would like to remind the public that bear season is approaching. Although there have only been 2 reports of bear sightings within the city so far, it will not be long before they are out looking for food. To discourage bears from wandering into residential areas, it is important that citizens remove food sources from around their homes prior to bears becoming active. There are a number of things that the public can do now, from something as simple as not feeding the birds to putting out garbage the morning of pickup and not the night before.
