Traffic Disruption The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public that on Sunday April 9th members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 will be participating in the closing ceremonies for the Memorial Gardens.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public that on Sunday April 9th members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 will be participating in the closing ceremonies for the Memorial Gardens. They will be marching from the front of the Gardens, westbound on Queen Street East, southbound on Dennis Street, east along Bay Street, north on Spring Street and again westbound on Queen Street East back to the Gardens. This parade will start at 1:30 pm and it is anticipated it will be completed about 2:15 pm. Traffic in the area will be disrupted so you may wish to find an alternate route during this time frame.


Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday afternoon around 5:30 pm City Police attended at the intersection of Bruce Street and Grosvenor Avenue for a three vehicle motor collision that send 3 persons to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A van operated by 51-year old Roy Leblanc of 115 Chestnut Street was traveling westbound on Grosvenor Avenue on the green light. It is alleged that 52-year old M.C.A. Stevens (f) of 5-1 Maxanne Place was traveling in her car northbound on Bruce Street when she allegedly went through the red light. The Stevens and Leblanc vehicles collided and then the Steven’s vehicle struck a pickup truck operated by 22-year old Adam Carpenter of 368 Bruce Street, which was stopped at the red light facing southbound on Bruce Street.

Mr. Leblanc was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both Mrs. Stevens and Mr. Carpenter attended at the hospital on their own for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Vehicle damage is described as moderate to severe. Mrs. Stevens has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of red light fail to stop.

Four People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning

30-year old Bobbie-Lynn St. Jules of no fixed address was arrested last evening and charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of threatening to damage property. It is alleged that on March 29th the accused attended at the residence of a female person and got into an argument with the homeowner. It is alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim and burn her house down.

A 47-year old male was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with a number of offences after City Police were called to an east end address for a domestic dispute. It is alleged that on the 6th of April the accused pushed the victim twice and also threatened to kill her. Officers also learned that the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court in relation to a transportation fraud charge from the 12th of September 2005. The male was also arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm.

27-year old Stephen Dabutch of Lacrosse Wisconsin was arrested and detained by Customs Officials as the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants from 2000 in relation to a number of breaches of release orders as well as failing to appear in court in relation to an assault charge and a threatening charge.

23-year old Christopher Heald of 2-126 Church Street was arrested yesterday by officers from the Fraud Unit and charged with 19 counts of fraud, one count of attempt fraud and 20 counts of stolen credit card data. It is alleged that the accused stole a credit from a male victim, activated the card and charged a number of items at a number of locations in the City on the card. The total value charged was just over $3500.

Update On White Pines Arson

Yesterday morning the High School Liaison Officer for White Pines completed his investigation into this arson at the school. Two 14-year-old youths were detained and dealt with for one count each of public mischief and one count each of arson-disregard for human life. The youth are being dealt by way of the extrajudicial measures allowed under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They are being dealt with by way of the youth referral program.

Impaired Driver Caught By Canada Customs

36-year old Marianne Allan of 755 Second Line West was arrested last night and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. Jut before 1:30 this morning the accused was arrested by Canada Custom Officials for driving while her ability to do so was impaired by alcohol. The accused was turned over to City Police. She will appear in court on May 15th.

Two Charged For Paintball Gun Assault

Last evening just before 10 pm City Police attended at a west end residence for a complaint of two male victims being shot at with a paintball gun. Officers learned that that the person who fired the paintball gun was with a second youth. One of the victim’s was struck twice in the stomach area and the other victim was struck in the head area and lower body area. Officers attended at a west end residence in an attempt to locate the accused person. It is alleged that a 13-year old youth in the residence attempted to obstruct justice by hiding and denying the whereabouts of the youth responsible for firing the paintball gun. This youth was charged with one count of obstruct and one count of breach of probation. The youth responsible for allegedly firing the paintball gun was located by officers in the home and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon. Both youths will appear in court on May 9th.
