On the 21st of August 2014, officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by members of the Crime Suppression Unit, entered into an investigation into illicit drugs on Carufel Avenue in Sault Ste.

On the 21st of August 2014, officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by members of the Crime Suppression Unit, entered into an investigation into illicit drugs on Carufel Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. As a result of the investigation and search warrant, various quantities of controlled drugs were seized along with associated materials. Charged as a result of the incident are 53-year-old Dianna Vandette of Carufel Avenue, and 42-year-old Shirley Arcand of Bay Street with several Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences. Both individuals are to appear in court on September 22, 2014.   

A 29-year-old male was arrested by city police detectives on Thursday evening and charged with 4 counts of breaching a recognizance he was on, due to a domestic related incident from earlier this year. It is alleged that between June 1 and August 21 of this year the accused met up with and contacted his ex-girlfriend several times while he was on conditions not to. He will be appearing in Bail Court later this morning.

19-year-old Jordan Corbett of Church Street was arrested by city police officers last night after a vehicle check. Corbett was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to report to city police every Friday as part of a Recognizance he was on. He was also out past his curfew and charged with that. Upon further investigation, it was learned that the accused did not possess a valid driver’s licence and was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving without a licence. He will be appearing in Provincial Court on September 22.

Shortly after midnight on the 22nd of August, the city police received a call of persons breaking into a residence in the 100 block of Grosvenor Ave. It appeared that the thieves used a ladder to gain entry to the residence through a second floor window. Upon Police arrival, one of the accused fled but was apprehended a short distance away. The other was arrested as he left the residence. Charged with Break and Enter are 48-year-old Michael Johnston of Terry Fox Place and 23-year-old Candace Champagne of Trunk Road. They will be appearing in Provincial Court on September 22.
