Update to Fire:

Bay Street has been opened to traffic; however Spring Street between Foster Drive and Bay Street remains closed.

Detectives from Investigation Services are continuing their investigation into the fire.

An investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office will be attending to assist with the investigation.  

Damage to the building is described as extensive.

Late last evening investigators charged a 17-year old female with one count of arson and one count of breach of probation.  She will appear in court on March 12, 2013.

Earlier release:

Both the City Police and Fire departments remain on scene at the old Northern Breweries site where a major fire broke out late yesterday afternoon. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and further details will be available at a later time. Traffic in and around the area of the fire should be open later on this morning.

City Police attended to a break and enter to a residence in the McRae Street area early last night. It appears that a male wearing a light coloured jacket with a dark hoodie kicked in the back door of the residence. Upon Police arrival it was determined that entry was gained but nothing was taken. There are no suspects at this time.

A 39 year old female was arrested by City Police officers early this morning for breach of probation. It is alleged she contacted the male complainant when she was on conditions not to communicate with him. She will be appearing in Bail Court later this morning.
