Yesterday afternoon City Police were called to Sears in the Station Mall for a shoplifter.

Yesterday afternoon City Police were called to Sears in the Station Mall for a shoplifter. It is alleged that 18-year-old Braiden Eshkakogan of Sagamok Road, Sagamok, Ontario took a bottle of cologne and attempted to leave the store without paying for it.  He was apprehended by store security and turned over to police. The estimated value of the cologne was $78. He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on February 24, 2014.

Last evening City Police were called to the Walmart store on Great Northern Road for a shoplifter. It is alleged that 20-year-old Joseph Fabiano of Walnut Street Upstairs attempted to leave the store with $895 in groceries and other items. He was apprehended by store security and turned over to police.  He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on February 24, 2014.

Information has been received from residents in the area of Rossmore Road in regards to the possibility of wolves in the area of Garson Hill tobogganing area. As many as four wolves have been seen in the area over the last few days in the early evening hours. The animals were described as being larger than a coyote or domestic dog.  Residents are urged to use extra caution while in the area.

41-year-old Shannon Edwards of Elmwood St. was charged with theft by City Police on January 16. It is alleged she exited Romes Independent Grocers without paying for over $250 in items. She will be appearing in Provincial Court February 24.

A 51-year-old Sault Ste Marie man was arrested by City Police on January 16 and charged with threatening death and assault with a weapon in relation to a domestic incident. It is alleged the male threatened to kill a female known to him and also held a knife to her throat. He will be appearing in Bail Court later this morning.

City Police officers attended to the Canadian Hotel early this morning regarding two males fighting. Upon their arrival they located 24-year-old Josh Vanatta of no fixed address lying on the ground in an intoxicated state. A subsequent search revealed that Vanatta had what appeared to be an amount of cocaine on his person. As a result he was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was also on Probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Mr. Vanatta will be appearing in Provincial Court on February 24.
