Collisions: In addition to a number of collisions reported to the Collision Reporting Centre, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has responded to a number of motor vehicle collisions today.

In addition to a number of collisions reported to the Collision Reporting Centre, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has responded to a number of motor vehicle collisions today.  In several of the cases the drivers are failing to adjust their driving to the inclement weather and road conditions.

Two vehicles were towed from a collision at Boundary Rd. and Trunk Rd. after a collision was reported at 9:47.  No injuries were reported.

At 10:33 hours officers attended a collision on 1 Maxanne Place, Unit #7 where a vehicle was driven into a residence.  The elderly driver was moving her vehicle for snowplowing and somehow accelerated across the parking lot, through a fence, across a yard, through the patio doors of a residence and came to rest completely inside the residence. No injuries were reported, no one was home at the time and no charges are being laid against the driver. The residence sustained heavy damage.  The cause of the acceleration has not been determined at this time.

Two vehicles were towed from a collision at Albert St. E. and Tancred Street after a collision was reported at 11:16.  Minor injuries were reported that did not require immediate medical treatment.

At 11:19 it was reported that a city bus struck a vehicle at Goulais Avenue and Douglas St.  No injuries were reported.

At 2:50 p.m. officers responded to a collision at McNabb St. and Great Northern Road.  Two vehicles were towed from the scene and an occupant from one of the vehicles was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries. Traffic Services is continuing with that investigation.

A 41 year old male was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Interference. It is alleged the accused touched a female victim for a sexual purpose that was under the age of 16. The incident occurred at the accused’s residence on January 6 2013. The victim and the victim’s family members are well known to the accused. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Police responded to a domestic dispute in the west end of the city. A records check was completed on a 53 year old male at the scene and he was found to be on a Probation Order not to communicate with the other party involved the dispute. He was arrested and will appear in bail court on January 18, 2013.

Police were also called to another domestic dispute in the downtown area of the city. Investigation revealed that a 20 year old female hit her boyfriend in the head with a beer bottle. A 25 year old female friend then hit the girlfriend in the head with a beer bottle. As a result they were both charged with assault with a weapon. The 20 year old is being held for bail and the 25 year old has a court date of February 25 2013.
