Police seek assistance with Motor Vehicle - Cyclist Collision
On Thursday July 11 at approximately 8:30 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police, Traffic Services investigated a motor vehicle – cyclist collision at the intersection of Wellington St. E. and Lake St. Initial investigation revealed the cyclist was travelling South bound on Lake St. in the crosswalk, and was struck by an unknown black car that was travelling east bound on Wellington St. east in the curb lane. The cyclist received minor injuries. The police are requesting that any witnesses or the driver of the black car contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police, Traffic Services with any information pertaining to this incident.

Updated information on Champagne arrest
On the 12th of July, 2013 a collaborated effort between the Crime Suppression Unit and Patrol Officers led to the apprehension and arrest of 22 year old female Candace Champagne of 70 Wellington St. east. As stated in an earlier news release Champagne was charged with 2 counts of break and enter, 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance, and 2 counts of breach of recognizance. Property located in Champagne’s possession was linked to two previously reported break and enters. The first one being a break and enter on the 3rd of July, 2013 in the Montgomery Ave area where money and alcohol were taken. The second break and enter occurred on the 11th of July, 2013 in the 700 block of River Rd. where jewelry, money, electronics and alcohol were taken. She will be appearing in Bail Court this morning.
On the 12 July 2013 officers attended at a west end residence where they located a female known to them. She was found with a loaded syringe containing cocaine. Further investigation revealed property that was stolen from two separate break and enters that had occurred earlier in the day. Charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of breach of a recognizance and two counts of break and enter is Candice Champagne(age 22) of 70 Wellington St East #1. She will be appearing in bail court on Friday at 10:00 AM.
