Afternoon news On June 28, 2013, Glenda Bussineau, 47 years old, of 44 Smale Avenue was arrested on a first instance warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints. The accused had been attempting to cross over into the U.S.A.

On June 28, 2013, Glenda Bussineau, 47 years old, of 44 Smale Avenue was arrested on a first instance warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints.  The accused had been attempting to cross over into the U.S.A. and was turned back by their officers.  City Police attended at Canada Customs and arrested her.  She will be appearing in court on July 29, 2013.

On June 28, 2013 at approximately 9:30 a.m., City Police attended at a domestic occurrence in the city’s west end.  As a result of the investigation, a 37 year old male has been arrested and charged with assault.  It is alleged that he threw the victim to the floor, caused damage to some drywall and threatened her with bodily harm.  He will be appearing in Bail Court on July 2, 2013.

On June 28, 2013 at approximately 5:20 a.m. City Police attended at 293 Bay Street near the Dennis Street entrance regarding a motor vehicle accident.  Investigation revealed that the vehicle had struck the side of the building resulting in injuries to one of the passenger.  The driver, Justice Cassidy MacDonald, 18 years old of 16 Vesta Place was arrested and charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.  She will be appearing in court on July 29, 2013.

West End Home Invasion Update

On the 13th of May 2013 an Investigation commenced regarding a Home Invasion on Rossmore Road in Sault Ste Marie. Detectives from the Sault Ste Marie Police, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police have made an arrest regarding this incident.

 A 26 year old male, Damien Wayne Flemming of 1288 Government Rd. Echo Bay, Ontario has been arrested and charged with the following offences; break and enter to a residence, disguise with intent, mischief to property(x2), theft over $5000.00, robbery using a firearm, unlawful confinement and pointing a firearm (x2).The accused is being held for bail court.

The Sault Ste Marie Police wish to reassure the public that this was not a random incident.

This investigation is continuing and Police are requesting anyone with information regarding this investigation to please contact the Sault Ste Marie Police at 705-949-6300 ext 210.

Update To Earlier Investigation:

On June 28, 2013, City Police attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and charged Damien Wayne Fleming, 26 years old, of no fixed address with break and enter and commit theft, robbery using a firearm, disguise with intent, mischief over five thousand dollars, forcible confinement and pointing a firearm. 

These charges stem from a home invasion on May 13, 2013 in the 200 block of Rossmore Rd.  in which a female and her young child were allegedly  accosted at gunpoint and duct taped to a post in the basement of their home. 

The accused and an accomplice allegedly made off with a substantial amount of property and the victim’s vehicle.  The vehicle was subsequently involved in a rollover in Echo Bay, ON prompting an extensive search by O.P.P.  The investigation is ongoing.  Fleming will be appearing in Bail Court on July 2, 2013

36 year old Mark Jefferson of White Bear Lake in Minnesota was stopped by Canada Customs on June 27 while trying to enter Canada. He advised the customs officer that his reason for entering Canada was to meet a girl that he had met on the internet. A secondary search was completed and a laptop was located containing child pornography pictures. The accused was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and importing child pornography. He is scheduled to appear in Bail Court on June 28.

A 44 year old female was arrested and charged with one count of assault. The accused was involved in a domestic incident on June 26 in the downtown area. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 31 in answer to the charge.

41 year old Clinton Perrault was arrested and charged with one count of theft under $5000.00. It is alleged the accused attended a Gus’s Pizza on Queen St. where he stole a pizza and then began eating it. He was arrested and given a court date of June 29.
