Fraud Alert
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received, this afternoon about an unknown male caller attempted to solicit funds. The caller stated he was looking for people to sponsor a family at the James Street Soup Kitchen. The caller requested the victim write a cheque for $ 25.00 and that he, the caller, would pick up the cheque. The James Street Soup Kitchen does not solicit funds from the public to sponsor families. If anyone receives a call of this nature they are requested to contact the City Police at 949-6300.
Disturbance in the West End
Early this morning the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to a west end address in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival the officers spoke to the involved persons and discovered that one male was on probation with conditions to not consume alcohol or intoxicating substances. This accused, a 17-year-old male, was under the influence of an intoxicating substance and was subsequently arrested for breaching his probation. He will be appearing in bail court today at 10:00 Am.
Stolen Wallet
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received a report of a stolen wallet yesterday. The victim reports that yesterday afternoon between 2:00 Pm and 4:30 Pm she had left her wallet at the food court of the Station Mall. Subsequently unknown person stole it and were using her debit card to make withdrawals from her account.
The public is reminded not to leave the P.I.N. for any of your credit or debit cards in your wallet or purse and do not tell anyone else what your P.I.N. number is.
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating one report of mischief that occurred in the past 24 hours.
At approx. 10:50 Pm last night two males were seen throwing rock at a residence in the 1200 block of
Wellington St.E. The culprits broke one window before fleeing from the scene. The only description of the suspects is that one was wearing a white hoody and the other had a hat on.
