Robbery In Broad Daylight! At approx. 11:55 AM this morning a lone male entered the Ideal Drug Mart, located at 1416 Wellington St.E. produced a handgun and demanded drugs and money from the clerk.

At approx. 11:55 AM this morning a lone male entered the Ideal Drug Mart, located at 1416 Wellington St.E. produced a handgun and demanded drugs and money from the clerk. The suspect then fled the area running towards Breton Rd.

During the robbery the suspect specifically demanded a drug name Oxycontin.
(Oxycontin is an opiate drug used primarily in the treatment of pain).

The suspect is described as: Male, white, approx. 25 years of age, 5’5” to 5’ 10” tall, dark haired, medium build. Suspect was last seen wearing dark clothing with baggy pants. He also had a handgun.

The Sault Ste Marie City Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in regards to this Robbery. Anyone seeing any person that matches this description is asked not to approach the suspect but to call the City Police at 949-6300 ext. 210 or Crimestoppers @ 942-7867 or 1-800-222-TIPS.

Anyone that may have been in the area of Trunk Rd. and Wellington St.E. at around the noon hour and has any information about this suspect is asked to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Detective Office.

Update To Video Max Break In

43-year old Ronald Marini of 1600 Baseline Road was arrested yesterday morning just after 3 am and charged with a number of offences in relation to Instaloans on Second Line West and Video Max. It is alleged that the accused broke a window at Instaloans located at 343 Second Line West around 1:30 am. It if further alleged that around 3 am the accused attended at Video Max located at 240 Second Line West and broke into the store and stole numerous DVD’s and video games.

The accused was driving a pickup truck that fled from the scene but was located short time after the break and enter. When officers located the vehicle on Goulais Avenue they located the stolen property and the driver of the vehicle, Mr. Marini. It is alleged that Mr. Marini attempted to flee from the officers but was not successful. When officers searched the accused they located a small flick knife on him.

It is further alleged that on the 6th of May the accused attended at Sears in the Station Mall and stole 2 denim jackets. When officers stopped the vehicle a second male fled the area on foot. Officers are continuing their investigation into this matter.

Mr. Marini has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of mischief, one count of possession of housebreaking tools (a pry bar), one count of possession of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of resist arrest.

Assault Charges

1) A 26-year old female was arrested around 3:30am this morning and charged with assault. It is alleged that the female assaulted her common-law boyfriend by hitting him in the head and biting his arm. The incident occurred in their downtown residence.

2) A 13-year old youth was arrested last evening and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged the accused assaulted a person known to them by slapping the victim in the face. It if further alleged that the accused was on a release order not to molest, harass or annoy their mother and allegedly disobeyed this order by throwing stones at her car.

Forgery

Last evening just after 6 pm officer from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police and the Anishinabek Police Service stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 E and arrested three persons. Officers found the three occupants of the vehicle in possession of a large quantity of falsely manufactured documents including social insurance number cards, Canadian citizenship cards, as well as a list of names and dates of birth. 26-year old Angela Porter and 34 year old Ken Morrison of no fixed address have been charged with one count of counterfeit proclamation, one count of uttering a forged document, one count of forgery, one count of false pretences and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. Also charged in this incident is 36 year old Ericson Orogie of 413-453 Cooper Street, Ottawa. He has been charged with one count of counterfeit proclamation, one count of uttering a forged document, one count of forgery, one count of false pretences, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of breaching a release document and three counts of breach of probation.

Impaired Driver

56-year old Emily Migwans of 3-41 Albert Street West was arrested just after 4 am this morning. Officers on routine patrol observed the driver of a car cross the centerline on North Street on two occasions. When officers stopped the vehicle they noted the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. Emily Migwans has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. She will appear in court on June 26th.

Man Arrested For Involvement In Two Collisions

A male driver was arrested this morning after being involved in two motor vehicle collision early this morning. It is alleged that just after midnight the accused backed his car into a car parked in the parking lot in the 600 block of Wallace Terrace and left the scene. Just after 2:10 am this morning officers attended at St. Georges Avenue West and John Street for a motor vehicle collision. A car operated by Amanda Duguay of 112 Glasgow Avenue was stopped on St. Georges Avenue West for the red light. It is alleged that Andrew Chikoski failed to stop and struck the rear of the Duguay vehicle. Vehicle damage was light and no one was injured. 25-year old Andrew Chikoski of 155 Glasgow Avenue was arrested and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of impaired driving. He will appear in court no June 26th. The accused was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of careless driving.
