On November 16 an accused male, age 52, allegedly assaulted a young person by pulling the victims hair and pulling the victim to the floor. On November 19, 2015 the accused turned himself in at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service building. The accused was arrested for assault. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 21, 2015 at 9 a.m.
On November 19 City Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local store in the McNabb Street area. It is alleged that a loss prevention officer observed a male accused, age 58, conceal an item in his jacket and leave the store without paying. The accused was apprehended outside of the store and police attended and arrested the accused for theft under $5,000. A check of the accused revealed that the accused was on court ordered conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, report a change of address and report to police every Friday. The accused was further charged with breach of probation and breach of a recognizance x2. The accused will appear in bail court on November 20 at 10 a.m.
On November 18, 2015 at 6:45 p.m. officers arrested 53-year-old Grace Chornobey of Wallace Terrace. It is alleged that the accused attended at a west end grocery store and placed a large amount of meat products in a shopping cart. The accused than exited the store making no attempts to pay for the products. An off duty officer witnessed the crime and arrested the accused. The accused has been charged with theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on December 21.
On November 18, 2015 at 7pm officers arrested 20-year-old Raven Pine of Wolf Road. It is alleged that the accused attended at a hilltop department store and selected a laptop computer. The accused walked out of the store making no attempt to pay for the computer. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to police. The accused has been charged with theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on December 21.
On November 18, 2015 at 8 p.m. officers arrested a 31-year-old male for possession of a narcotic. It is alleged that on November 15 the accused who was remanded into custody on other matters concealed a suboxone pill and took it into the institution. Guards found the accused in possession of the narcotic and contacted the police. The accused has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and breaching his probation order by failing to keep the peace and be good. The accused will appear in bail court on November 19.
On November 18, 2015 at 10 p.m. officers from the Crime Suppression Unit located and arrested 33-year-old Michelle Morris of no fixed address. The accused is a federal offender and was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for breach of parole. The accused was transported to the local correctional facility.
On November 18, 2015 at 10:50 p.m. officers arrested a 26-year-old male for two counts of sexual interference. It is alleged that from November 2 to November 15, the accused was involved in a consensual sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. The accused will appear in bail court on November 19.
On November 18, 2015 at 11 p.m. officers arrested a 24-year-old male from Sudbury who was wanted on dated warrants. The accused was stopped by the OPP and a check found he was wanted for assault and failing to appear in court dating back to when he was a young offender. The accused was turned over to the Sault Ste Marie police and held for bail court on November 19.
On November 18, 2015 unknown culprits stole the Christmas laser lights from a residence on Parkinworth Place.
On November 19, 2015 at 12:10 a.m. a male was using a downtown ATM when he was approached by an unknown culprit who demanded money. When the victim pointed out the security cameras to the culprit he fled the scene. The culprit is described as a male white, 5’9”, heavy set with short light colored hair. The culprit was wearing a black jacket and slacks. The investigation is continuing.
