Drug Warrant Executed, Two Arrests and Property Offences

On the afternoon of November 27th officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Drug Unit along with members from the Crime Suppression Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Letcher Street.  Officers were also assisted by Police Service Dog Justice and his handler.

During the search officers located fentanyl patches, 2 grams of cocaine, 26 grams of marihuana, 3 grams of hash oil and a small amount of ecstasy. The estimated street value of the drugs is $2,385.  

Officers also located ammunition for a hand gun, a tactical baton, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia.

At the time of the search the owner was not home.  On the 29th of November just after 3 am the accused attended at the police station and turned himself in.

34-year old Richard Frederick Rogers of Letcher Street has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking, 4 counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of breaching a court order not to possess ammunition or weapons. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Just after 4:30 am this morning officers from Patrol Services arrested a 32-year old male and charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening to destroy property.  It is alleged that the accused attended at the residence of his ex-girlfriends and after an argument he struck the victim in the face.  She did not require any medical attention.  When the accused went to leave he threatened to burn the victim’s house.  The accused was located a short time later.  The male will appear in bail court this morning.

A homeowner on Atlas Street reported a break and enter to their residence yesterday afternoon.  It is unknown if anything was taken.

Yesterday during the afternoon hours a residence on Central Creek Drive was broken into.  A 55 inch television and a laptop were taken.

On November 28, 2013 at 8:00 pm Police Officers arrested and charged Rebecca Fleming, age 22 of Cambridge Place with Assault and four counts of Breach of Probation. Fleming pushed and spit at a person known to her. At the time of her arrest Fleming was on several probation orders to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Fleming will appear in court on Dec. 30th.

On November 28, 2013 shortly before 11:00 pm thieves broke into Franzisi Restaurant at 256 Bruce St. The owner is confirming what items were stolen.

At 2:20 am on November 29, 2013 Patrol Officers were called to the Canadian Motor Hotel on Pim St. for disturbance. Police located Gregory Wishman, age 19 there and found him to be in possession of marihuana. Officers learned he was on probation not to possess marihuana or drug related items. Wishman was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act and three counts of Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code. He will appear in court on Dec. 30th.
