Assault A 35 year old male was arrested by City Police Detectives this afternoon for 4 counts of assault all with domestic implications. It is alleged these assaults occurred over a period of a year.

A 35 year old male was arrested by City Police Detectives this afternoon for 4 counts of assault all with domestic implications. It is alleged these assaults occurred over a period of a year. The accused will appear in WASH Court tomorrow morning.

Several charges for Mattinas

33 year old Mark Mattinas of no fixed address was arrested by alert City Police Officers this morning when they received a call that a male was standing in the rear yard of an east end residence. Mattinas was located in the area and after a check was made, officers learned that he was wanted on several outstanding charges, which include Break and Enter, Possession of stolen property, Mischief, Theft and Failure to attend Court. Mr. Mattinas will appear in bail court on Tuesday November 13th.

Trailer stolen

A utility trailer was reported stolen from North Shore Sports from sometime overnight. It is described as a 6x10 single axle trailer with an attached plate of F64 45X. There are no suspects at this time.

Domestic:

A 21 year old female will appear in domestic violence court on 12 Dec 2012 charged with assault with a weapon after throwing a knife at her boyfriend during a fight.  No injuries were reported.

A 17 year old youth will also appear in bail court today charged with assault on his mother and breach of undertaking for violating a condition of bail not to physically interfere with his mother from a previous charge.

Damage to vehicles:

On November 08 2012 in the early evening hours a vehicle parked in the Sault College north parking lot had mischief done to it resulting in the roof being cut and paint being scratched.

On November 08 2012 in the early evening hours a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Pim St. had mischief done to it resulting in paint being scratched.

Possession of stolen property:

22 year old Daniel James Murphy of 160 Amber St. will appear in bail court this morning charged with 2 counts of possession of stolen property.  It is alleged that he pawned stolen property at two pawn shops on 22 October 2012; a laptop computer and ipod stolen from a break and enter on Grandhaven Cresent on 21 Oct 2012 and a Nikon camera and bag stolen from a break and enter on VanDaele St. on 21 Oct 2012.

Breach of probation:

19 year old Kimberly Robinson of 646 Queen St West has been charged with one count  of breach of probation for failing to abide by the condition to abstain from the purchase, possession and consumption of drugs or substances not prescribed for her use.  Police were called to a Queen St. residence to assist EMS for a assistance with a possible drug overdose and found that the occupants there had ingested Fentanyl transdermal patches allegedly stolen from another residence.

Male arrested for $120,000.00 Fraud

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Fraud unit have completed an investigation into an ongoing fraud that has cost a local construction company over $120,000.00.  The investigation began in August of this year when unusual bank activity was reported to one of the company’s accounts.     It is alleged that over the last 2 years the accused made 332 unauthorized cash advance transactions on a company credit card totalling $120,996.10. As a result of the investigation, 49 year old Pasquale Muto of 580 Farwell Terrace has been charged with one count of fraud over $5000.00. Mr. Muto was arrested by officers on Monday November 5th and will appear in court on December 3rd of this year.
