Goulais River resident charged with stabbing person in leg

Sault Police say victim was taken to hospital Wednesday night with 'moderate injuries'

A 35-year-old from Goulais River has been charged following a stabbing on Great Northern Road Wednesday night.

Around 10:10 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting a stabbing at a residence in the 1100 block of Great Northern Road. 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded, but the accused had left before they arrived at the scene.

Police say the victim was stabbed in the leg and taken to the hospital with "moderate injuries."

The suspect was later located in the 600 block of Third Line East and arrested, police say.

Jessie Neyland is charged with assault with a weapon.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Neyland is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
