Heavy police presence near casino linked to 'ongoing investigation'

At least 10 officers, including canine unit, conducting grid search for evidence

There was a heavy Sault Police presence in the Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie area on Bay Street Wednesday afternoon.

Police vehicles and a drone were seen on the casino property while at least 10 officers — including the canine unit — were searching the Gateway property across the street from the gaming facility.

“They are doing a grid search for evidence for an ongoing investigation,” said Lincoln Louttit, Sault Police spokesperson, in response to SooToday.

SooToday will have more details if they become available.
