Home intruder bites victim, can now chew on long list of charges: Sault police

A 28-year-old is facing multiple charges after a person broke into a home on Saturday — and bit a resident who tried to confront them.

The incident occurred on Oct. 28 at around noon, in the 0-100 block of Churchill Blvd. 

“Upon arrival, officers found the accused in a physical altercation with the victim,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. 

Further investigation revealed the accused had broken into the victims’ home, stolen a bag full of items, and bit them in an attempt to flee the property when they were confronted,” the release continues. “The accused and the victims were unknown to one another.”

Shantelle Webster is charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order

She was held in custody pending a hearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Webster is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
