A 911 call reporting a vehicle driving the wrong way on a one-way street has led to multiple charges against the driver.

Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday night, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to the report on Albert Street East and ultimately found the vehicle in the 400 block of Charles Street, where they conducted a traffic stop.

While speaking with the driver, police say the officers developed grounds to believe he was impaired.

The driver was subsequently arrested and gave multiple breath samples, all of which registered above the legal limit.

Jordan Bellerose, 35, is charged with:

  • dangerous operation
  • operation while impaired – drug and/or alcohol
  • operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+)
  • fail to comply with probation order

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on Sept. 9, 2024.

The allegations have not been tested in court and Bellerose is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
